Help More Jewish Institutions Go Solar

Your support helps turn promising solar plans into completed projects with lasting financial, environmental, and community benefits.

A Proven, Practical Model

Philanthropy That Moves Projects Forward

Many Jewish institutions want to adopt solar energy but face financial, technical, and organizational barriers. JSC helps close those gaps with direct funding and project support.

Our matching-grant model builds on each institution’s own commitment. Grantees contribute at least half of eligible direct project costs, while JSC funding helps move project-ready proposals toward construction.

What Your Support Makes Possible

Expanding the Impact

Support for the Jewish Solar Challenge helps us:

  • Provide matching grants to Jewish institutions with clear plans for solar projects.

  • Help institutions navigate project planning and implementation.

  • Track and communicate the financial and environmental impact of supported projects.

  • Encourage community engagement and broader sustainability efforts.

  • Bring this model to more Jewish institutions and communities.

Impact

The Solar Is Just the Beginning

Since 2021, JSC has supported solar projects at synagogues, schools, camps, Hillels, and other Jewish community institutions. These installations can lower long-term operating costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and make climate leadership visible in the places where Jewish life happens. With continued philanthropic support, JSC can help more institutions turn their climate commitments into action.
